The below is a letter I wrote to John McCain. I have sent copies via E-mail to his Senate web site and his campaign web site. I have also sent copies via regular mail to the addresses from both web sites. Please read and let me know what you think. Thanks Shane
Dear Senator John McCain,
First is off sir let me say thank you very much for your service to country. As a former Navy sailor, I am well aware of the great sacrifice that is made to serve but yours Sir sets you apart. I would like to start off by telling you about myself. It will give you a better understanding about where I%u2019m coming from when I reach the main body of this letter. I am an evangelical Christian who likes to study history both military and American, I like the study of biblical history & text translations for deeper understanding of original biblical meanings, and the study of the Christian heritage of what I like to call God%u2019s Constitution. As you can most likely guess, as far as politics go I consider myself a Strong Federalist Conservative. I was also a very big part of the grassroots effort to draft Fred Thompson. I did this through blogging and making comments on many conservative web sites. I do have my own personal Blog called %u201CFred & %u201CThe Doctrine of Original Intent%u201D%u201C. See sir I feel that the founding fathers views and ideas where inspired by God and they placed those ideas and principles within the Constitution, no different then inspiration by God in the writing of the Bible. I do not place the Constitution on the same level as the bible as far as its being canon or not, but I do feel that it was written exactly the way God wanted it to be written. As far as governing today, I feel the government should be doing things exactly the way the founding fathers intended it to be done, hence the name of my blog. I felt from the beginning that Fred Thompson was the best choice to lead us in that way. With Fred Thompson no longer in the race I found myself in a place where I needed to make a choice but felt there were not any good choices to make. With my military back round and my loyal trust placed in Fred Thompson I choose to continue to follow his lead. He has asked all his FredHeads to %u201CStand Strong%u201D and %u201CClose Ranks%u201D around you. I should mention Sir that I do not feel that this was a full endorsement of you Sir. Had he been able to do that there would have been no reason or need for him to enter the race in the first place. I feel that this was a call to support you as the nominee for our party but continue to support strong federalist & conservative positions. In the past my wife and I have been very active in local, state, & federal politics. We regularly keep in touch with all our representatives through e-mails, letters, and phone calls. We also have supported other conservative candidates for other offices as well. Sir I feel Fred Thompson would want me to continue to do all these things and continue to mobilize %u201CWe The People%u201D in the same areas. See as a Christian I feel that Christian%u2019s were called by God to be the ones on the front lines. This nation and God%u2019s principles are under attack. The only hope we as Christians have in fulfilling the Great Commission is the United States. History shows us that the developments in Europe over the last 2000 years all point to the creation of the U.S. and it%u2019s Constitution. We are the only nation in history that both has the means and the drive to reach the whole Earth for God. Christians should be working hard to fight the ongoing attacks of %u201COriginal Intention%u201D ideals. I believe Sir that most of the issues we face in America today are because the government %u201CRuns Free%u201D and %u201CWe The People%u201D run silent. I sir will not run silent as you work to win the nomination and move into the general election, or should you win, during your presidency. My blog will continue to stay up for the same purpose that I started it in the first place, to educate and help mobilize. Now however, it will be to further Strong Christian Federalist Conservative positions with Fred Thompson as a spokesman rather then as a candidate or leader. In addition I will continue to blog and comment on other conservative sites such as the new "Conservatives for the Advancement of the Reagan Coalition". I intent to support and praise you sir in the areas and positions you take that match those conservative positions. I also intent to be the first to stand against you when you take positions that do not hold to %u201CThe Doctrine of Original Intent%u201D. In your campaign you have talked about strong national defense, strong border security, lowering taxes, lowering spending, and support of human life. In some of those areas I and others like myself feel you have not always run down those roads as strongly as you could have. It is for this reason I feel you have had difficulty drawing other conservatives in to support you. We would like for you to take much stronger positions on human life. We believe that life begins at conception and is protected under the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution. We also believe that the family structure is the root core of the American way of life. We need strong constructionist judges appointed to protect the traditional family as well as other issues that are under attack by the %u201CLeft%u201D. As far as border security I agree with your position of building and or finishing the fence, but that is not the only way illegals get into America. I sir and many others like myself intend to stand strongly against you should you intend on letting anyone who is not a legal resident stay in this nation. As a Christian I do have great sympathy to their needs and wish the country could receive many more immigrants then we do, like we use to, but the needs of this nation and the fiscal structure is very different then it was in those days. Although many illegals are great law abiding tax paying people, except for being here illegally, their very presence here has put many burdens on the rest of us that we end up footing the bills, literally! I believe as Fred Thompson did that if we enforce the laws already on the books, many if not most will return home on there own. If we turn off the magnet that draws them here in the first place they will have no desire to come or to stay. All in all sir I hope that you will support small government that follows the constitutional guide lines and only what is spelled out there. The following is a post I have made both at my personal blog and at Blog for Fred Thompson (BFFT). Enjoy!
I doubt that anyone is going to read this, due to the fact that it has been three days since anyone has posted here at BFFT. However, I wanted to say this anyway. This will be my last post on BFFT. As some of you know I made a post called "The Future of BFFT....Sugestions!!". In that post I made some very good suggestions for this site that could have mobilized the people and made a real tangible difference. Instead of moving in that direction, this site has moved to changing it%u2019s position, and giving its full support to John McCain. It has even gone so far as to start a new site %u201CBlogs for John McCain%u201D. And unlike BFFT where anyone could come and view the posts, you have to sign up and be a member to do anything there. I can see making someone sign up in order to post, but to just view the posts, sounds like an exclusives club to me.
Don%u2019t get me wrong, as I have said, I intent to %u201CClose Ranks%u201D behind John McCain. But just like Fred Thompson gave an endorsement without really endorsing John McCain%u2019s positions or policy proposals, that%u2019s what I intend to do. I will be writing John McCain a very detail letter. I will be sending it to him via e-mail and via regular postal mail. For those who wish to read it I will be posting it at my personal blog Fred and "The Doctrine of Original Intent" in a few days. In this letter I will give John McCain praise in the areas that he has strong conservative positions and for his service to our country. Yet on the flip side, I will be expressing my deep opposition to positions where he is "Left" of conservatism. I will also be making it perfectly clear that my intention will be to support him during his presidency with Blogs, call-ins, and write-ins when he chooses the %u201CRight%u201D path. But I will also be just as diligent to mobilize the people to blog, call-in, and write-in to him and to our other elected officials at the times he chooses the %u201CLeft%u201D path, just like we did during his amnesty bill. I think I intent to be more pro-conservative, pro-federalist, pro-Christian values, anti-left wing, anti-democratic then I plan on being pro-McCain. I believe this is the %u201CStand Strong%u201D %u201CClose Ranks%u201D position that Fred Thompson was speaking of.
In my attempt to move forward the suggestions I made for BFFT I have found a site/ group that intends on doing the very things I talked about. Please jump over to "Conservatives for the Advancement of The Reagan Coalition" and take a look at what we are doing. The joining of the "Texas FredHeads", "FredHeadsUSA", and "DraftFredThompson" sites created this site. Notice that they also intend on having regional sites as well. My friends, Senator Fred Thompson's campaign for President is now over, but our work is far from complete. We encourage all FredHeads and other grassroots conservative activists to continue their critical efforts to bring the Republican Party back to its conservative roots.
To that end, the leadership and many members of DraftFredThompson, FredHeads, and volunteers for other conservative candidates have come together to form an alliance under the banner "The Reagan Coalition." The Reagan Coalition is a network of grassroots conservative activists formed to promote and defend the conservative principles articulated by Ronald Reagan.
The traditional Reagan Coalition is far from dead. Charma aka TexasLady (TX)I'm not going to tell you that Fred's a shoo-in for the win in South Carolina. If you believe the pollsters, he's not. If you believe the pollsters, John McCain has the best numbers in South Carolina, with Huckabee in second.
The truth is, polls are often unreliable for predicting where one candidate will come out against another candidate on election day. Polls are fairly reliable, though, for determining which candidates are gaining support and which are losing support over time. By that measure, it's clear that Fred has solid upward momentum in South Carolina, while Huckabee has been dropping like a rock.
Fred's Rise:
With 48 hours to zero hour, it's anybody's guess what is going to happen in South Carolina. As a very savvy friend of mine said recently, "never underestimate the BIG MO."

PPP 1/17: 17%"Thompson, who has been campaigning heavily in the state, is the only candidate to fare better than he did in a South Carolina poll PPP conducted late last week."In other words, there's one candidate in South Carolina with "BIG MO" (upward momentum) and his name is FRED THOMPSON.
In the period from January 6 to January 13, Rasmussen shows Huckabee dropping from 28% to 19%. That is a huge drop in such a short time, and it shows that South Carolinians are finally finding out about Huckabee's abysmal record in Arkansas on taxes, spending and illegal immigration.The Bottom Line:Rasmussen 1/06: 28%In other words, Huck has his own momentum--but not the kind anyone wants.

This is the last weekend before election day in South Carolina. A big group of Young Professionals for Fred has descended on the state to pitch in for Fred. Most of the group has already been in the state for a few days. The Texas group just got in on Friday night. We're all meeting up together at Fred HQ on Saturday morning to get our marching orders. Meanwhile, the Texas FredHeads are running a phone bank for Fred back in Dallas. It's crunch time, and we're ALL IN!!! Below the fold, more pics of our first night in Columbia.

I want to congratulate Fred Thompson on his recent second-place finish in the latest caucuses.
You may not be aware of Fred's second place finish, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Fred Thompson is now one of only two candidates in the race to finish in the top three in two states (Iowa and Wyoming).
Fred now sets his sights on South Carolina, and he needs our help. A win for Fred in South Carolina will require the ability to make the media buys to get his consistent conservative message out to the voters.
To that end, Randall asked that we get out the following message:

Fred is talking about South Carolina and beyond Super Tuesday. He has set his sights on the goal and is fighting the good fight. Now it is up to us. Will we sacrificially support him to the finish line or sacrifice the future of our children and their children?

I've been saying it for awhile, and I continue to believe it. I think Fred's going to surprise some folks when the chips are counted in Iowa.
Most of Fred Force Iowa has made it back to Texas. Our band of volunteers really had a great time in Iowa helping Fred. I'd like to thank everyone who went on the trip and everyone out there who helped make our trip possible. I'd like to especially thank Nicolee Ambrose, Baxter Lee, Stephanie McNees, Kristen Fuzer and Chris Burger. This trip was a great experience (pictures here, here here and here), and I'd recommend it to anyone who has the time and inclination to be involved. There will be plenty of opportunity to help Fred out in South Carolina over the next two weeks.
